Abstract

A critical review of the potential role of chemotherapy in the management of patients with squamous cell carcinoma of the uterine cervix is presented. Both its role in the management of recurrent and/or metastatic cervical cancer and its usefulness as part of the primary treatment of high-risk patients are discussed. It is emphasized that high-risk patients with cervical cancer should preferably be treated in specialized centers and entered into research protocols.
