With a 5-year survival rate of 82% for all stages and more than 90% for the most common stage I, it is a carcinoma with an excellent prognosis. Against this background and in light of the results of recent studies, the value of extensive surgical staging including pelvic and para-aortic lymphadenectomy beyond the standard therapy of hysterectomy with bilateral adnexectomy must be questioned.
