Immunohistochemistry is widely used to provide additional diagnostic information in problematic cases. This review touches on some of the basics of the procedure, presents an example immunohistochemical panel, and discusses some of the most common immunohistochemical markers used in diagnostic gynecological pathology. Differential diagnostic problems and relevant immunohistochemical stains for the vulva, vagina, cervix, uterus, and ovary are also addressed.
