Oxaliplatin, a third-generation platinum derivative, has shown effective antitumor activity and a favorable toxicity profile in epithelial ovarian cancer. Preclinical evidence of the synergistic cytotoxic effect of oxaliplatin in combination with several other chemotherapeutic agents and clinical evidence of the absence of any dose-limiting hematologic toxicity associated with this agent have made oxaliplatin an attractive compound for combination agent therapy. This article reviews the current status of the clinical application of oxaliplatin alone and in a combination regimen in epithelial ovarian cancer treatment. ER -
