Abstract

Introduction/Background Although there are many studies assessing the importance of myometrial invasion (MI) using a cut-off limit as 50% of MI for endometrial cancer, there are limited number of studies evaluating tumor free distance (TFD) to the serosa. The aim of this study is to evaluate the prognostic performance TFD and%MI in patients with Stage IB endometrioid endometrial cancer.

Methodology We evaluated 133 patients diagnosed and treated as Stage IB endometrioid endometrial cancer. TFD was assessed and recurrence and recurrence free survival were analyzed.

Results Nine patients had recurrence disease (6.8%). Recurrence free survival was 200 months. Two patients died because of malignancy. In Cox regression model according to TFD, DOI and%MI, it was seen that none of these parameters were significant to predict the recurrence (p>0.05).

Conclusion TFD is not an independent prognostic factor for patients with stage IB endometrioid endometrial cancer.
